With deep love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of JoAnn "Jody" Sylvester, a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, and beloved sister, and friend, who passed away on August 2, 2026.
Jody was born May 15, 1938, to Virginia and Gerald James in Richfield, Utah. She was raised in Marysvale, Utah where she graduated from Marysvale High School. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
On September 7, 1956, she married her high school sweetheart Rulon Sylvester. Together they welcomed two children, Debra Ann and Craig Rulon, who were the pride and joy of her life. Following the passing of their daughter, they lovingly became the parents of her children: Tiffany, Chris Anthony, and Tyler.
Jody lived a life defined by love, kindness, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family. Through every season of life, she offered support, encouragement, and unconditional love. She found great joy in spending time with family, fishing, who will forever treasure the time they shared with her.
Jody is lovingly survived by her son, Craig: 9 grandchildern, 24 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; her brothers Wayne (Hazel) and Michael (Rhonda); her sister Sonja; and many extended family members and friends who will forever treasure the time they shared with her.
She was preceded in death be her husband, Rulon; daughter, Debbie; parents; daughter-in law Michell; brother Billy; sisters-in-law: Margery and Linda; and brothers-in-law: Nort, Milton, and Dick.
While our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in the countless memories, lessons, and love that Jody leaves behind. Her Legacy lives in her family, the lives she touched, and the values she instilled in all who knew and loved her.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 10,2026, 11:00 am at Marysvale LDS Chapel. Interment, Marysvale Cemetery.
