Listen to Obituary

Jerry Brent Higgins, age 72, of Taylorsville, Utah passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Jerry was a man who appreciated the simple and profound joys of life. An avid outdoorsman, he was always at home in nature and found great peace in hunting and fishing. He especially cherished the moments spent outdoors with his sons, sharing countless memories tracking through the woods and casting lines into the water. Later in life, when he lost his eyesight to macular degeneration and was unable to be in the woods or on the water, he never lost his spirit. He instead found comfort in relaxing to the classic sounds of old country music - a soundtrack that perfectly matched his steadfast and genuine nature.

Above all his hobbies, Jerry's greatest joy was simply spending time with his family. Even as his vision and health faded, his love for the people around him remained crystal clear. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who leaves behind a legacy of love, steady guidance, and fond memories that his family will carry with them always.

He is survived by the love of his life of 52 years, Bonnie; his children, Justin (Megan) and Craig (Cari); his grandchildren, Sage, Avery (Aubrie), Jayslynn (Rigby), Jaden, Madisyn, Kelsi, Sean, Austin, and Chris; his great-grandchildren, Jahmari and Sloane; and his sisters, Debbie (Steve) Rix and Dani Barron. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Beverly Higgins; his in-laws, Don and Phyllis Gibbons; and a number of other family members and friends who welcomed him to heaven with open arms.

A celebration of Jerry's life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at their LDS church house located at 3495 West 4850 South, Taylorsville, Utah.

Jerry and his family chose to donate his eyes to research in hopes of helping others beat macular degeneration. In lieu of flowers, the family simply asks that you live life to its fullest and listen to a classic country song in Jerry's honor.
