Greg Brown

December 31, 1937 — October 30, 2023

Our sweet Dad, Grandpa, Great-grandpa, and friend, Jay Gregory Brown, bid farewell to this life and moved onward to the next on October 30, 2023, in Murray, Utah.

Greg was born December 31, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to James Russell and Susan Liebig Brown. He spent his life in the Salt Lake Valley, moving from the avenues to Murray and finally settling in Taylorsville for the past 61 years where he would raise his family with his love and best friend, Maureen Pearl Parkes.

He met Maureen at the tender age of 11 and they began a long and enduring relationship. She was always and forever the only one for him. Engaged while they attended Murray High School, they were married on May 25, 1956, three days after graduation. Together, they raised their four children: Leslie Robyn Boisselle (Patrick), Benjamin Scott (Tresa), Paul Russell (Stanley), and Jennifer Susan Wunderlich. His life was enriched by his 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, whom he adored.

Greg was a dedicated family man whose obligations to his brood were at the heart of everything he did. He lived to provide for their needs and abundantly blessed their lives with his warm and humorous ways. He was the quintessential "fix-it" man with a knack for repairing, creating, cleaning, and making things better. He co-owned Russ Brown Office Machines with his father, worked as a salesman for General Binding Company, and later became a full-time custodian for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He was known wherever he went as a friendly and easy-going person who had a knack for making you feel like he had known you for a lifetime. Grocery shopping was one of his favorite hobbies and he would chat with the cashiers and staff at his local store. Everyone knew him by name.

A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in various capacities and lived a life overflowing with love, obedience, and dedication to his God. He loved and served and was a friend to everyone. He was a lighthearted, tenacious man with a strong work ethic and a cheeky sense of humor. Not one to sit still for a moment, we're sure he will find plenty to keep him busy wherever he is.

We will deeply miss "Jake" but have found comfort in knowing that he is now able to stand tall, not held back by an impaired and bent body. He has been reunited with his "Pearl" and those other angels he has "loved long since and lost awhile."

Visitations will be held Friday evening, November 10, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah. Visitations will also be held Saturday morning, November 11, prior to services, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. with his funeral to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Taylorsville 9th Ward, 2030 West Chateau Avenue, Taylorsville, Utah. Interment will be in Murray City Cemetery, 5490 South Vine Street, Murray, Utah.
