Jim was born November 12, 1937, to Howard Leon Rushton and Thelma Ruth Jenkins in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the first of 6 children. He married and was sealed to Julia Ellen Arnold "Judy" December 30, 1964, in the Salt Lake Temple. They bought a home 9 months later in Hunter, Utah (now West Valley City) and lived there the rest of their lives. He finished the unfinished parts of their home which consisted of the two lower levels.

Dad was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission to the Southern States - he served mostly in Georgia and South Carolina. He served many years as a Ward Finance Clerk, Stake Clerk, and twice as Ward Clerk. He was also on the Stake High Council for 8 years. Dad and mom were ordinance workers in the Jordan River Temple for 5 years. He had a strong testimony of the Savior, His Atonement, the Book of Mormon, and the Church. Dad became a master gardener and worked at the USU Salt Lake County extension office answering gardening questions. Mom sold Avon for 11 years and became a top seller. He helped her hang books, enter orders into the computer, and get them ready to deliver.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife Julia, his parents Leon and Thelma Rushton, and his sister Marjorie Lefevre. He is survived by his siblings: Bob (Evon), Kathy (Ben), Sandi (Jim), Bruce (Colleen); 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
