James -- devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend -- was born February 1, 1976, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Jim and Vina Jones.
James was adopted by Dan and Mattie Mix in December 1981, along with his two siblings. It was love at first sight when we saw these beautiful children.
James always liked working with his hands and was always active and busy. He enjoyed hard work and much of his life worked in the construction industry -- everything from cement work, to road work, to roofing, and home remodeling.
His passion was working on cars, landscaping, and helping other people.
The last few years he moved in with his parents and helped them with things they could not do due to their age and health. He landscaped their yard and made it look beautiful, did home repairs, and was always there when something was needed -- even cooking their meals.
Friends and neighbors liked him because he was always willing to help whether it was working on cars, or even helping to hang Christmas displays or lights. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by wife Jackie, parents Dan and Mattie Mix, children Donna Jo, Katlyne, James Jr, Angelina, and grandchildren, sister Raelynn (Gene), brother
Robert (Ginger), Rana Mix, nieces, nephews, step-children Kylee, Jaron, and grandchildren who called him Grandpa -- which he loved when they did it.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 12:00 pm at LDS Heritage Parks 2nd Ward at 5233 South 3200 West, Taylorsville, Utah.
