James "Jimmy" Robert Sanders

November 19, 1945 — April 7, 2016

James (Jimmy) Robert Sanders, age 70, returned to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on April 7, 2016, due to complications of pneumonia. Jimmy was born November 19, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois to James Tracey and Clara Schwer Sanders. He is the youngest of 4 children. He was raised in Chicago. After the passing of his mother, he divided his time between Park Rapids Minnesota and Beaver, Utah, with each of his sisters. When he lived in Park Rapids, he was employed by the Hubbard County DAC and took pride in his recycling responsibilities and had lots of special friends. Prior to moving to Utah, he was the oldest living person with Down's syndrome in Minnesota. Jimmy has lived in Beaver since 2013. Jimmy was a special person, with twinkly blue eyes and a smile for everyone. He loved to introduce himself to people by saying, "I'm James Robert Sanders, I was born in 1945 and I'm, 75 years old!" Jimmy loved Twinkies, Pespi, bologna sandwiches, and watching Leno". Jimmy liked to take apart small motors provided by his friend Merrill, wear his "bibs" and "iron toes". He loved Elvis, John Wayne and his Chisum hat. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Lorraine. He is survived by his sister Lois (Charles) Anderson, Beaver, Utah; brother-in-law, Gerald Reese, Yuma, Arizona; nieces and nephews, Dave Anderson, Lori Vest, Jeff (Teri) Anderson, Andy (Lisa) Anderson, Russell (Diane) Reese, Gerald Reese; 9 great-nieces and nephews; and 7 great-great-nieces and nephews. We would like to thank West Jordan Care center for accepting Jimmy as part of their family. We would also like to thank the 3rd floor nurses at Jordan Valley Hospital for the kindness and compassion they showed to Jimmy and our family. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at the West Jordan Care Center, 3350 West 7800 South, West Jordan, Utah. Jimmy will be laid to rest next to his parents in Chicago, IL. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the West Jordan Care Center in memory of Jimmy.
