Jack Roberts Simpson passed away May 7, 2022, in his home in West Jordan, Utah. Born April 14, 1932, to Christopher Vernon and Beulah Roberts Simpson in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born and reared ‘between the tracks’on 3rd West and 4th North. Attended Washington, Lincoln, South High and the U of U. Four year Navy veteran of the Korean War. He found his special companion, Gwen Davies, at church in Los Altos, California. Eternal marriage October 21, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Jack raised his family and was tutored and taught by the wonderful saints of Granger, Utah; where he met his good friends and almost brothers, Cal Anderson and Bruce Brooks whom he laughed with, socialized with, worshiped with and cried with. He still treasured the acquaintances and friends from the Granger area. He also had great friends in the Spring Hollow community where he has lived for over 20 years.
His career began in 1956 with Bennett’s Paint and Glass, who provided further education and employment as a paint chemist for 34 years.
Blessed to serve the Lord in many callings: Sunday School, MIA, Clerk, Bishop, High Council, with his beloved Gwen as missionaries in the Dominican Republic Temple and many years as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple. Along with these callings he never tired of camping among God’s creations.
Survived by wife Gwen Davies Simpson; sister Joy Lynn (Bob) Anderson; daughters Catharina (Ron) Thompson; Jeanette Dietrich; and Carrie (Gary) Young; sons David (Doneen) Simpson, Lorin (Jennifer) Simpson; and Mark (Heidi) Simpson; 33 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; sister June Lowther Cornia; and grandsons Steven Simpson and Christian Young.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2022, 12:00 noon, at the Jordan River 5th Ward, 1380 West 6785 South, West Jordan, Utah, where a viewing will be held prior to services from 10:00-11:45 am.
