Tanya Marcroft Sandusky was born on November 9, 1942, in Murray, Utah to Sarah Ruby Miller and Harry Russell Marcroft. She passed on October 8, 2025, at the age of 82 years old. She was the oldest of 5 children and learned the responsibility very early to help with housework and the children.
Tanya took piano lessons and became very accomplished as a teenager. She taught piano lessons to many children throughout her life, including her grandchildren. She loved school, learning, and was an honors student. Tanya played the trombone in the West High School band. She received a scholarship to the University of Utah, where she sang in the chorus and played trombone in the marching band. She and her siblings began to sing together and trained under the Evan's Brothers Quartet, where they would travel and perform at parties throughout the Salt Lake Valley.
Tanya served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Eastern Atlantic States Mission (Washington, D.C., West Virginia, and Pennsylvania). She met her husband, Dale Michael Forsyth Sandusky, on her mission. They married on June 17, 1966, in the Salt Lake Temple. They had 6 children together, whom they loved very much and were very proud of.
Tanya went back to school at the University of Utah, where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She loved working with children and worked in the Granite School District for 8 years. Having previously worked in the Missionary Department for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints after her mission, Tanya later in life returned to work as a Real Estate Administrative Assistant until retirement.
Tanya devoted her life to the Lord and served in many callings. Her favorites were working with children in Primary, Cub Scouts, and her many musical callings. A highlight of her service was receiving her Silver Beaver Award through Cub Scouts.
She loved being a mother, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother, where she got to share her experiences with her loved ones.
Tanya is survived by her husband Dale, her children Jorjeane (Eric), Doreane (Michael), Robert (Becky), Cherylene, Charles (Rebecca), and Edward (Meri), as well as her 16 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
