Ila Jean "Jeannie" Luke (July 9th, 1950 - April 15th, 2025)
Her youthful enthusiasm for life, inspired counsel, and genuine love for everyone are just a few of the gifts we will miss from our dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Ila Jean "Jeannie" Luke, 74, of Murray, Utah, died instantly as a victim of a tragic car crash on April 15th, 2025.
She was born in Ogden, Utah on July 9th, 1950, to John "Jack" Lancey and Ila Done Parker. She had three brothers and one sister. She and her sister, Patsy, always wished they were twins. Their loving parents raised them as if they were, building an everlasting bond between these two best friends.
Jeannie married her eternal companion, Hal Luke, for time and all eternity on January 24th, 1970, in the Mesa, Arizona Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Jeannie was always telling her children how handsome their father was.
Jeannie and Hal worked arm in arm as they raised their large family. Providing a loving Christ-centered home was her top priority for their eight children and anyone who entered their home.
Jeannie gladly moved wherever Hal's job took them. For many years, they lived in Tucson, Arizona, where she ran a preschool from her home and worked closely with the teachers at the local elementary school. Continuing with her love for children, she worked at Waterford School in Utah. While in Las Vegas and Salt Lake, she worked for Danville Services. She was lovingly known as the office mom. She retired from their payroll department in December 2020.
Jeannie was a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ and took every opportunity she could to serve Him as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed serving in Primary, Young Women's, and Relief Society. Highlights were serving two service missions with her husband and attending the temple often.
Everyone who knew Jeannie knew how much she loved crafting and sewing. She made and mended many of her children's clothes. In more recent years, she has enjoyed quilting and embroidery. Jeannie belonged to more than one quilting club. She shared her talent freely with everyone around her.
In the past few years, Jeannie has become a vibrant part of the Murray City Senior Recreation Center. She enjoyed the classes, but mostly, really enjoyed the people. Jeannie was one of the exercise class teachers. She would share fun stories about her children and her life to help get through some of the harder sets of exercises.
Although we lost Jeannie, her impact on our lives will never fade. We are so blessed to have known her.
Jeannie was preceded in death by John "Jack" Lancey Parker (father), Ila Done Parker/Petty (mother), and Ed Wood Parker (brother). She is survived by Hal Luke (husband), Stanley Conger (brother), John Parker (brother), Patsy Offen (sister), and her children Kimberly Orton (Scott), Cindy Worthington (Donald), Heidi Roemmele (Tom), Dixie Orton (TJ), Billy Luke (Erin), John Luke (Cristy), Wendy Funk (Matt), and Andy Luke (Megan), and 20 wonderful grandchildren.
