Ielene Robinson

Listen to Obituary

Ielene Draper Robinson , our sweet, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away, with her daughter at her side, on July 7, 2026, in South Jordan, Utah. She was born at home in Centerfield, Utah on October 13, 1943 to Vermile and Bessie Christofferson Draper. She was the second of four children born in that union.

Ielene met the love of her life, Howard Walter Robinson, while working at Dupler's mink ranch in Sandy, Utah. They married on April 8, 1972, and enjoyed more than 30 years together before his passing. As season ticket holders and true-blue fans, they attended BYU football games for more than 20 years, building friendships along the way while riding the bus to the stadium. Ielene loved all of the holidays, but the Fourth of July and Christmas were her two most favorite. She and Howard would save us the best spot on State Street in Murray to gather and watch the parade go by. Ielene was very patriotic and loved her country. She started the Christmas Eve tradition of gathering for food, gift giving, and a visit from Santa. She included everyone and memories were made sweeter by her touch.

Ielene worked in the electronics industry for 23 years dividing that time between Beehive International and Electronics Memory. She then worked 20 years for Hunter Douglas Window Covering as a Customer Service Manager until her retirement on December 31, 2011.

Ielene was a beautiful example of sacrifice and selfless service. After her father's passing, she and her sister lovingly shared in the care of their mother. On most weekends, Ielene traveled 110 miles, one way, to take her mother for a ride or care for the yard. Ielene is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she served faithfully in her callings.

Ielene is survived by her daughters, Melanie (Brett) Blackburn and Michele (Mike) Wickens; sister, Barbara (Bart) Nelson; sisters-in-law, Nancy Draper and Starlene Draper; grandchildren, Amanda (Steve), Kali (John), Erin (David), Derek (Courtney); great-grandchildren, Aaden, Landon, Hudson, Audrey, Wren, Nox, Noah, Hanna, and Clara; step-son Joe Robinson and his family, Tori (Clint) and Bailee, Tracie (Clark) and Carter, Cole (Jaclyn) Taylor, and Hunter.

Ielene was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Howard, half-brother Clair V. Draper, brothers Max L. Draper and Gary E. Draper, step-daughter-in-law Kathy Robinson, step-son Todd Robinson.

Our family would like to express appreciation to the staff of Legacy House South Jordan for the warm welcome in. To the wonderful, trusted caregivers in "The Cottage", thank you for being so kind and encouraging to Ielene. And, to Sequoia Hospice nurse Savannah and aid Maria, your gentle care and compassion will be remembered.
