Heraldo Arturo Montano

October 6,1946 ~ March 25, 2023

March 25, 2023 is the day we lost the greatest man; the rock of our Montano family. To know Heraldo is to know that he was larger than life.

Heraldo Arturo Montano was born on October 6, 1946 in Durango, CO. to Corina Mestas Montano and Apolonio Montano. He married Sharon Martinez on October 29, 1966. Together they had four children and continued a marriage that most people could only dream of.

He proudly served in Vietnam  from 1969-1970, and earned a Purple Heart.

To be lucky enough to have known him, you have nothing but wonderful things to say about him. Heraldo loved his family more than anything. He was the definition of FAMILY man. He lived and died with his family being his only priority.

He loved hunting and camping, and was always ready to throw a few coins into a slot machine.

He started his own STEELER NATION in his own family. He was the biggest sideline Jazz fan, right from his front room.

He was surrounded by his family as he took his last breath. Parkinson's Disease took his body but his spirit lives on in all of our hearts. As hard as it is for us to have him leave us, we know he's already been welcomed by family who left before him.

Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Larry & Bobby; grandson Anthony; brothers & sister-in-law Jerry & Maxine Snead. Survived by the love of his life, Sharon, wife of 57 years; sons, Paul (Myra), Errol (Terry); daughters, Isis & Elisa. Bonus daughters, Josie Tovar & Tina Ambriz; sisters, Viola (Donnie), Glenda & Raylene; grandkids; Jordan (Sania), Cece, Gabriel, Junior, Jayden (Jamie), Anyssa, Brianna, Brady, Freddie, Sophia; Great-grandkids, Aiden, Jaxx, Alexa, McKenna & Jayda.

We are truly grateful for all of the Hospice Team and their amazing care for our grandpa during the last phase of his life. Special thanks to Nikki and Caysen.
