Geraldine Sorensen

Geraldine (Jerry) Sorensen passed away peacefully September 26, 2025, in her Taylorsville, Utah home. She was born in Delta, Utah on August 16, 1935, to David L. Evans and Rachel Nelda Wiley. She married Gilbert M. Sorensen Jr. (later divorced).

Jerry raised four daughters who love her and will miss her dearly. She was a great mom who worked hard and took pride in being a resilient, independent woman. She was a proud grandmother to 10 amazing grandchildren who enjoyed spending time with her.

Jerry was blessed with many talents which she shared with others. She was a master hand quilter. She made many quilts for her family and would spearhead making quilts for each new bride in her ward. She enjoyed sewing her daughter's clothes, prom dresses, and a couple of their wedding dresses. She sewed uniforms for Cottonwood High School's pep club and cheerleaders. Each Christmas she would set up a few shelves of Barbie doll clothes she had made and sell them. She also made many sets of Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls and more.

Jerry was most definitely a dog person. She loved her four-legged friends. Most recently Max and Sammy. She was an avid Jazz fan, back in the Stockton and Malone era. She would settle in with her popcorn and Diet Coke and was good to go. She enjoyed the music of Johnny Cash and was able to attend a concert of his with her daughter. She was always working a jigsaw puzzle on her kitchen table.

Jerry is survived by daughters: Laurie Farrington (Jeannine), Shannon Railsback (Kelly), Wendy Shields (Ralph) and Nikki Sorensen, 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and her sister Jean Linford.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 3, 2025, at 10:00 am at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah.

A viewing will be held prior to the funeral services from 9:30-9:50 am.

Interment: West Jordan City Cemetery, 7925 South 1300 West, West Jordan, Utah.
