Faye Josephine Carroll, age 83, peacefully passed away on December 24, 2022, at Alta Ridge Memory Care in Sandy, Utah. Faye was born August 11, 1939, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Franklin Downs Howard and Josephine Johnson Howard. She grew up and attended schools in Ririe, Idaho, and graduated from Ririe High School in 1957. After high school, she attended Rick's College. She then served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Palmyra New York Mission.
She met her sweetheart, Willard, at a dance. Willard's and Faye's first date was at the New Year's Eve dance at the Terrace Ballroom in 1963. They were later married on September 3, 1965, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and sealed in the Jordan River Temple in 1995. They settled in Salt Lake City, Utah, where they later built a home and raised three children. Faye worked for many years as an office secretary for UDOT, where she retired.
Faye loved to serve others freely. She served as the compassionate service coordinator in the Valley Park 3rd Ward for many years. She enjoyed dancing, sewing, gardening, baking, camping, and spending time with her family and friends.
Faye is survived by her three loving children, Julie (Bruce) Guyant of Newark, Ohio, Scott (Lisa) Carroll of Draper, Utah, and David (Erin) Carroll of Taylorsville, Utah, as well as her sister Lucille (Gene) Scott of Ririe, Idaho. She has 15 grandchildren, Andrew (Rachael), Aubrey (Cameron), Alex (Kelsey), Austin (Andrea), Aric, Allison, Mitch (Mika), Vince (Brenna), Stacia, Danielle (Sam), Breahna, Tanner, Tyler, Ryan, Elizabeth, and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Willard; her parents, Franklin and Josephine Howard; her sister Marion Johnson; and her brother Paul Howard.
In her last few years, Faye struggled with dementia and Alzheimer's. A very special thanks to the Alta Ridge Memory Care staff and nurse Lindsay from Atlas Home Care and Hospice for their dedicated care over the years.
