Faun Chidester

October 11, 1934 — August 14, 2025

Faun Moore Chidesterage 90, passed away on August 13, 2025, in San Diego, California.

Faun was born on October 11, 1934, in Loa, Utah to Ivan J Moore & Avagail Taylor and always felt like Wayne County was home. She attended Wayne High School as a teen and later graduated from Utah State University. She held postgraduate degrees from Brigham Young University and the University of Utah.

Faun was married to John Leo Chidester of Bicknell, Utah for more than 40 years. She lived for extended periods in Heber City, Layton, Ogden, and West Valley City, all in Utah. Professionally, she worked as a high school teacher and counselor and later as a social worker and private family counselor.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Faun served in many capacities, including a full-time mission in the Church's Family History Library in Salt Lake City. She loved her family on both sides of the veil. She was a passionate genealogist and became a contact for extended family members seeking information on the lines of her family tree.

Faun was very invested in her son & grandchildren. She hosted her grandchildren every summer and planned a special trip with each of them when they turned 13 or 14. She loved gardening, camping, reading, and learning. She was often found with a heaping bowl of cereal, and loved shopping at Costco to ensure the pantry was fully stocked at all times.

During her last years in life, Faun was beset by the growing cloud of dementia but is now free from that burden.

Faun was preceded in death by her parents Ivan Moore & Avagail Taylor and her sister Gwen Allen. She is survived by her brother Guy Moore; her son Steven (Amy); her grandchildren Stephanie Bradshaw (Michael), Jennifer Chidester, Michelle Conde (Jon Jacob), Matthew Chidester (Nicole), and Aaron Chidester; by 11 great-grandchildren, and by nieces and a nephew.
