Erika Gibson-Barker passed away peacefully at the University of Utah Medical Center on Tuesday, February 16th.  She was 45 years old.

Erika was born in Del Rio, TX while her father was stationed at Laughlin AFB, and grew up in Brazil and later Taylorsville, UT. Erika had a long and rewarding career as an Operations Manager for a few shipping companies.  Erika loved the mountains, her dogs, and to bicycle on beautiful days.  She was fluent in Portuguese and loved her Brazilian heritage.

Erika was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved being a grandma (vovó).  She is the loving & devoted mother of Alex and Abby, and a doting grandmother to Emery Rose Brinkerhoff.

Cherished sister of Steven Karl Gibson (Karyn), Brian Raoul Gibson (Elaine), and Jennifer Hemmert (Lance). She was preceded in death by her parents Marlene Grahl and Donald Raoul Gibson and her niece Lauren Gibson. She is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
