Elliot Spencer Mickelson, age 91, passed away on April 29, 2026. He was born on December 7, 1934, in Manti, Utah, to Rulon S. and Jessie Mickelson.

He spent his early years in Manti, where he enjoyed playing with his neighborhood friends and formed many fond childhood memories.

At the age of 17, Elliot enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served for four years. During his service, his family relocated to Richfield, Utah. Following his active duty, he continued his commitment by serving an additional four years in the Air Force reserves as Staff Sargent earning many awards. His military service was a source of lifelong pride, and he deeply respected and honored all who served.

On September 6, 1957, he married Zola Geneal Christensen in Monroe, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Utah Temple. Together, they built a loving home and were blessed with five children.

He was deeply involved in the Boy Scouts of America, where he served in many leadership positions and was proud to receive the Silver Beaver Award.

Elliot valued education deeply. After completing his military service, he returned to school while supporting his young family and earned his degree from the University of Utah in Mechanical Engineering Technology & Manufacture Engineering.

He built a successful career as a Quality Control Engineer, working with several companies and contributing his expertise on various boards and councils. He authored 2 books in his field and was frequently cited in industry publications. Even after retirement, he started his own company and continued consulting, generously sharing his knowledge and experience.

Elliot was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings throughout his life. His faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ guided many of his decisions and shaped the way he lived. He was always willing to help others and was known for thinking of those around him first.

He found great joy in traveling and spending time with his family. Whether attending family reunions at Fish Lake or wintering in Quartzsite, AZ. He cherished every opportunity to be outdoors with those he loved.

He is survived by his wife Zola Mickelson, his brother Merrill Mickelson, his children Diana (Kevin) Olsen, Janet (Steven) Willes, Craig (Kerrie) Mickelson, Glenn (Teri) Mickelson, and David (Cathryn) Mickelson; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Rulon (Jessie) Mickelson: His siblings Charlene Mickelson (Merrill's Wife), Garth (Lola) Mickelson, Arlene (Lloyd) Smith; his grandchildren Colby Olsen, and Douglas Mickelson.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Legacy Memory Care, family members, and friends who supported Elliot in his later years. Your kindness and service meant so much and helped make his final years as comfortable and meaningful as possible.

A viewing will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:45 am, followed by funeral services at 12:00 pm at Taylorsville 12th Ward Church Building at 4505 Brians Way, West Valley City, Utah.  Services will also be streamed at: https://zoom.us/j/97485191861. A military interment with honors will be held for family on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 2pm, at the Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park, 17111 South 1700 W, Bluffdale, Utah.
