Douglas L. Stoddard 1923 ~ 2011 Douglas Lawrence Stoddard, 87, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away October 4, 2011 after an extended illness. Douglas is remembered for his love of the outdoors, especially fishing. He also loved baseball, was a little league coach for many years, and enjoyed skiing with his family. He was born October 9, 1923 in Reno, Nevada, son of Lawrence E. and Alice Johnson Stoddard. He served a short term in the US Army in 1946. Married and sealed to Orlene D. Rickenbach in 1947 and she remained his sweetheart for 64 years. They were blessed with 5 children, 22 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. He held many positions in the church including elder s quorum president, branch president, high priest group leader, sealer in the temple and a mission with his wife to Sydney, Australia. Survived by his wife, Orlene; children: Susan Silcock, Connie and Steve Miller, Larry and Debbie Stoddard, Diane and Alan Rogers, Chris and Wendy Stoddard; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 10, 2011, 1:00 p.m. at the Taylorsville Gardens 1st Ward, 4252 South Bennion Road (1905 West). Viewings will be held Sunday, 5-7 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home 4330 South Redwood Road and Monday at the church, 12-12:45 p.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
