Deziree Dawn Prows Rinquest

July 10, 1973 — September 14, 2025

Deziree Dawn Rinquest, beloved wife, mother, daughter, aunt, and friend, died tragically in a motor vehicle accident on September 14, 2025.

Dez was born in Salt Lake City to Mark Clift and Nora Puckett in July of 1973. Mark and Nora divorced shortly after Dez's birth.

Nora married Brent Prows, and they had seven children together. Dez cherished her relationship with each of them.

She graduated from Cyprus High School in 1991. She started attending Salt Lake Community College, and joined the Institute choir. That is where she met David Rinquest, and it didn't take long to fall in love once they started dating.

On April 8, 1993 Deziree and Dave were married in the Salt Lake Temple. They bought a house in Magna and then became the devoted parents of Kadric and Brielle.

During that time, she started working for Select Health as a claims processor and even developed a new set of claims processing rules for a new line of business.

In 2001, they built a new home in South Jordan and moved there before welcoming Nevaeh and Keylian to the family. Deziree loved to work early in the morning, so she could be finished by the time her children came home from school.

With the birth of his grandchildren, Mark and Deziree grew closer, and they enjoyed many father-daughter adventures together.

Dez transferred to a Medical Review role at Select Health, but it wasn't working out, so after over 25 years, she left and went to work for the State of Utah. She retired in November of 2023. Before long, she was getting certified as a life coach, and an end-of-life counselor (Death Dula), and was volunteering and visiting terminal patients who were nearing the end of their lives.

She loved being in the mountains above Kanosh, Utah, or having a day at the lake. She earned a black belt in Hap-Ki-Do, and her children attended some of those classes. Later, she developed a love for belly dancing, and her girls joined her. They performed together many times over the years, and Deziree loved doing that with her girls. She also loved building drums with animal hides and participating in drum circles.

Dez was known for her love of entertaining, her meticulous planning of social gatherings, and her deep and lasting friendships. She wanted to be known as a good mother, and a good friend. She succeeded in both.

Dez was taken far too soon, but she lived every minute to the fullest. She is survived by her parents, husband, and children, as well as her siblings Tara, Serelle, Adam, Lindsey, Chelsea, Logan, and Sierra, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the LDS Church, 9455 S 4800 W, South Jordan, Utah. A celebration of life is planned for a future date.
