Daniel Thomas Feil

Dan passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Tuesday, October 13, 2026. He was born in Salt Lake City to Daniel and Lillian Annie Benson Feil. He was the oldest of 7 children and grew up in the Rose Park area. He attended Rose Park Elementary, Backman Elementary, Northwest Jr. High, and West High Schools. Dan enjoyed sports and played little league baseball and later was a wrestler at West High. He enjoyed fixing things and learned how to tune up and repair cars. He learned how to tear down an engine, clean and replace parts and then reassemble it. He didn't mind getting his hands dirty through the process. After graduation, Dan worked at Hill Air Force Base for several years and then worked several years at a refinery near his Woods Cross home. He enjoyed the physical labor.

Dan was required to enroll in ROTC at West High but was later declared ineligible for military service (4F) because he had flat feet. His graduating class was one of the last required to take ROTC. Dan had a great sense of humor and was quite positive even though he dealt with many challenges including health issues.

Dan was married to Connie Hill and they had two children together, Tami and Jason. Later in life he married Gloria Preece, who preceded him in death.

Dan is survived by his 3 brothers and 2 sisters: Tom, Randy, Kerry, Shelley, and Wendy, and his two children. He was preceded in death by a sister, Janice, and a grandson, Nick. He is also survived by grandchildren: Samantha, Lexi, and Shaylee. In addition, he is survived by 3 great-grandchildren: Dominic, Sally, and Oliver.

There will be a graveside service at the Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South, Salt Lake City, Utah, at 11:00 am on Monday, October 19, 2026.
