Daniel Teeter Davies

Daniel Teeter Davies returned to his Heavenly home on August 6, 2026. He passed away unexpectedly on the golf course doing what he loved, playing golf with his big brother.

He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 28, 1949, to Ray Hatch Davies and Donna Dee Teeter. Daniel grew up in Midvale, enjoying a childhood filled with baseball, paper routes, fishing, basketball, and other shenanigans with his two beloved brothers. He excelled in athletics at Hillcrest High School, lettering in both basketball and baseball. Daniel met his sweetheart, Kathy Lynne Rawson, at Utah State University in Logan, Utah, where they were both attending. Daniel studied accounting while Kathy studied the handsome athlete from Midvale (and accounting). They dated, fell in love, and were married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 23, 1970, just shy of their 21st birthdays. Daniel transferred to the University of Utah and graduated in 1973. He began his career working for Utah Power and Light and remained with the company when it became Rocky Mountain Power, working there for 44 years.

Seven years into their marriage, and just a month after moving into their home in Taylorsville, Dan and Kathy welcomed their first child, Kelly Ann, into their home. Four years later, she was joined by her brother, Adam Daniel. Kelly and Adam were the center of everything for Dan and Kathy. Dan was a devoted Dad supporting both of his kids in their various activities. When they weren't at the ballpark, a piano recital, or a dance performance, Dan could be found shooting hoops with Adam or riding bikes with Kelly. His devotion to his children continued through the years and when grandchildren arrived, Dan was just as involved cheering them on in their pursuits. Each grandchild felt like Grandpa was their biggest fan...and he was!

Daniel was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a true disciple of his Savior, Jesus Christ. Daniel held many Church callings over the years, but whether he was serving as Bishop or teaching Gospel Doctrine, his focus was always helping, lifting, and loving people. He cared deeply for the single sisters in his neighborhood, and he and Kathy would check on them regularly long after being released from his official stewardship. Dan loved attending the temple and serving weekly at the Cannery at Welfare Square. He studied the gospel diligently and enjoyed teaching others all that he learned. His testimony was a strength to his family and the Christ-like example he set will continue to bless them for years to come.

Daniel is survived by his sweet wife of nearly 56 years, Kathy, his children, Kelly (Jonathan) Lewis, Adam (Melynda) Davies, and his grandchildren, Caden, McKenna, Lincoln, Harrison, Daxton, Macy, Penelope, Grayson and Finn, his brothers, Mike (Cheryl) Davies & Steve (Patti) Davies, as well as beloved nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and other wonderful family and friends.

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and in-laws, David O. and Mary Rawson.

All services will be held at the LDS Taylorsville 1st Ward Chapel, 4845 Woodhaven Dr. in Taylorsville. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 10:00 - 10:45 am. The funeral will take place on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 11:00 am.

Interment will be in the Taylorsville City Cemetery, 4567 S. Redwood Road, following the funeral.
