Cleo Whittaker

December 28, 1928 — January 27, 2011

Cleo Whittaker 1928 ~ 2012 On a cold day of December 28, 1928, a baby girl was born to Earl C. Whittaker and Laura Jane Dimick Whittaker. Three sisters and one brother welcomed her into this world with open arms. Her name is Cleo. Sadness came to this family when their mother was taken from them leaving their father to care for five children ages nine through eighteen months. Cleo was raised with the help of Grandma Dimick and family members. She attended schools in Utah and California, she met her good friend Betty Sucese while in California. They moved back to Utah to be closer to family in 1955 and shared their home. Cleo and Betty both worked and later retired from First Security Bank after twenty five years of service. Cleo was a very caring and giving person. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing this talent with others. She loved doing handwork and reading. She had an amazing memory and could tell you all about the books she had read. She loved our Savior and had a strong and true testimony of the gospel. Throughout her life she has fulfilled many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed doing service in the Temple and continued to do this until her health prevented her from continuing. Survived by her sister Marie (Max) Youd; brother Mural Whittaker; many nieces and nephews; her faithful friend and companion, Betty Sucese. She will be happy to be reunited with her parents and two sisters, Beth Newitt and Helen Beckstrom. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at Valley View Memorial Park, 4100 South 4400 West. A viewing will be held Tuesday 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park. Hobbies:Enjoyed cooking, handwork and reading.Occupation:Secretary
