Bruce Edward Versteeg, of Salt Lake City, Utah passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026, at his home at Paramount Healthcare.

Bruce was born on May 22,1962, in Salt Lake City to Adrian and Gwendoline Versteeg.

Bruce brought immense light, laughter, and gentleness into the world from the very beginning, though Bruce navigated life with unique, developmental challenges. These traits were only a small part of a rich deeply felt life.

Bruce possessed an extraordinary capacity for joy and communicated love through his radiant smile, bright eyes, and a kiss on your hand, to show his gratitude! Bruce had an unmistakable laugh.

Bruce found great happiness in the simple, beautiful moments of everyday life. He loved music, children, Christmastime with his "HO, HO, HO", the outdoors, and visiting the animals.

Bruce spent many wonderful years attending the Work Activity Center (WAC) in Salt Lake City. He ran in Special Olympic Races, where he would be leading the race, only to slow down, wave others ahead and finish in third or fourth place. He had an amazing passion for his artwork and being a "Blues Brother" with his friend Lanny (Alan Sorenson)!

Bruce spent many great years living independently at his home at Apple Farms, with his long-time friend Lanny, under the guidance and love of Robert Doan, long time caregiver for them.

Robert took them on trips to Hawaii, California, going to Sea World, Disneyland, and Disney World in Florida, to name a few!

He loved riding his bike in the cul-de-sac at his home, along with Lanny.

Bruce formed many cherished bonds with dedicated caregivers and friends who became like family, both at the WAC and Paramount Healthcare, these last three and a half years.

Bruce is survived by his brothers Roger (Lilly) Versteeg and Noel Versteeg; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian and Gwendoline Versteeg.

Bruce is in God's Eternal Embrace, with all his capabilities, running into his mother's arms. Rest in Peace!
