Brigham J Young, affectionately known as Brig, departed this world on September 7, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, resilience, and a great affection for horses, and his best friend, his son Roy. He was born on March 9, 1927, in Heber City, Utah.
When Brig was a very young man (12 to be exact), he lived at a sheep camp, by himself, in Deer Valley. He was a real life cowboy!
Brig later began his career as a heavy-duty equipment operator, mastering the intricate workings of anything with a CAT engine. His proficiency and dedication soon led him to venture into entrepreneurship. Brig became the proud Owner/Operator/CEO of his own successful flooring company.
But beyond his professional achievements, Brig's life was enriched by a variety of passions and experiences. During World War II, he selflessly served his country as a member of the Navy aboard the heavy cruiser New Orleans. His patriotism and bravery earned him our eternal gratitude.
One of Brig's greatest joys in life was his son Roy. He and Roy were more than father and son -- they were best friends. Brig and Roy spent the last 15 years together, 24/7, and Roy feels like he has lost his right arm. Brig, being a true cowboy, also loved horses. He found solace in their majestic presence and cherished their companionship. Brig's deep connection with horses extended beyond mere admiration; he and his family bred, raised, trained, and showed his fine Quarter Horses. Together, they achieved numerous championships.
Rest in peace, Brig. Your spirit will forever gallop through our hearts.
