Brent Gines

March 31, 1954 — February 23, 2023

Brent Clyde Gines passed away February 23, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loving family. He was born March 31, 1954 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Clyde B. and Beva W. Gines.

Brent married Kris Harmon and was blessed with two wonderful children, Landon and Jessica. They were later divorced. He later met and started a wonderful life with Diane Kimball. She was the love of his life. He loved and cared for Diane's family as his own.

Brent built through hard work his own business, South Valley Specialties. A few years back, he had a fire at his business. At that time, he could have retired and walked away. But, he was concerned about his employees having employment to provide for their families, so he rebuilt. He will be greatly missed by his employees and work associates.

Brent could put on a tough exterior, but he had a gentle, kind, heart of gold. He always wanted to share with others. He was very involved with raising money for Krusin for Kids for Shriner's Children's Hospital. He anonymously helped many families at Thanksgiving and Christmas every year. He was always ready to help when anyone needed his help. His friends were family and he loved them and they loved him. He always said "Good morning", no matter the time of day.

Brent loved to build and restore classic trucks. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed going to Alaska the last few years fishing in a remote area where he could get away from all contact and enjoy life. He loved drag racing and helped support the team and was later adopted as a team member. He became known as "Pops"

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Derk.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Kimball, children, Landon (Sarah), Jessica, April (Randy), Darrell (Becky), siblings, Ray (Denise) Gines, Mark (Marianne) Gines, Betty (Doug) Stowell, Lynda (Jerry) Elmer and Beverly Jbailat and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
