Blen Talbot

Blen Flinders Talbot, age 84 passed from this life on Sunday, October 29, 2023 in South Jordan, Utah surrounded by family.

He was born January 15, 1939 in Clinton, Utah, to Elmer Henry Talbot and Dora Flinders Talbot. He was the third of five children.

He married Mary Ann Hoffman on October 19, 1962 in the Logan Temple. They just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. He was a devoted husband and cared for Mary Ann throughout his life.

They had four children. Jeff (Jennie) Talbot, Karen (Chris) Mecham, Bonnie (Dan) Mason, Blenda (Doug) Darton. They have nine grandchildren: Austin(Ashley) Mason, Ashli (Dalton) Winegar, Justin (Kaite) Talbot, Jaden (Sarah) Talbot, Wesley Darton, Paden (Makayla) Mecham, Jarron Talbot, Preston (Kylee) Darton, Megan (Tyson) Conrad, and nine great-grandchildren.

He graduated from West High in 1957 where he was involved with track. He attended the University of Utah. He then attended the Salt Lake Trade Technical Institute where he earned his Electronic Technology Certification.

He served in the United States Army as Private 2nd Class. He then served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Brazil (1959 - 1961). His mission president was William Grant Bangerter. Dad told the story that he and his companion were the last missionaries to return home by boat.

He worked for EG&G in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was then hired to work for Sperry Utah Co and retired from L3. He was an industrial engineer and helped to write and implement processes.

He was a consummate scouter serving many years as a scout master and had other various roles at the district and council levels including supporting Wood Badge training. He also had lifelong service through other church callings.

We would like to thank all those from their ward and branch who served them. We would also like to thank all those who served dad at the care center.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at the Morningside Ward, 1555 W. Lovely Road. Viewing services will be held Friday, November 3, 2023 at McDougal Funeral Home from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, 4330 South Redwood Road and again Saturday 10-10:45 a.m. at the CHURCH.

Interment, Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.
