The Celebration of Life service for Ms. Betty Pegues will be held on October 24, 2025 from 3:00pm - 7:00pm at McDougal Gathering House, 4306 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, UT 84123.
Betty was born on January 22, 1962 to the late Betty Jane Thomas and Marion Edward Pegues in Chicago, IL. She departed on her continuation journey on September 27th, 2025 while out enjoying the day with her sister Toni.
Betty's biggest life passions were her love of cooking/culinary creations and lifting up others through their life's challenges. She touched the lives of countless individuals, providing mentoring, guidance, and inspiration.
Betty began her journey into the culinary world by graduating from Kendall College, a Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management College in Chicago in 1992. After graduating, she honed her skills by working in a variety of establishments in Chicago, and then in Utah. She lent her culinary and hospitality management skills from the Doubletree and Hilton Corporations to Franklin Covey Field by the Larry H. Miller Corporation. The latter part of her culinary career she dedicated to being a personal chef, as well as helping up and coming establishments in Salt Lake City with menu enhancement and design, and kitchen organization and management. She left memorable impressions on the hearts and stomachs of many with dishes she extended to, or were called to prepare, for weddings, birthdays, and other life celebrations.
Betty decided on providing guidance and inspiration through another medium vs. food in 2009. Highly intuitive, she left the culinary world to dedicate her time to another community of holistic and psychic practitioners. She developed a large private practice providing intuitive coaching and readings. She mentored countless practitioners, helping many find their path and way in that community. In 2012, she founded the SoulWorks Psychic and Holistic Fair, bringing together practitioners offering a variety of modalities to help guide and heal others.
Betty loved to read, meditate, collect crystals and stones, aromatherapy, a bonafide foodie, and period drama movie buff. She championed the art of relaxation and release.
Betty comes from a large family of 12 siblings, and is preceded in death by six of them: Denise, Edward, Ricky, Mario, Tommy, and Eva. Her remaining siblings reside in Chicago and Salt Lake City: Toni, Margaret, Jane, Johnny, Reggie and Roslyn. She leaves to cherish her memories dozens of nieces and nephews, cousins, close friends, particularly MaryAnn Femenias, Todd Tanner, Loren Holly, Denise and Ernie Mondragon, Divine, Keascha Wilson, Hal and Carlos Newman-Gorbea, other friends, and of course her SoulWorks Family.
