Barbara Hansen Gifford, 65, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at her home in Taylorsville, Utah.
Barbara was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Maurine Jensen and Allen Hansen on October 7, 1960. She graduated from South High School in 1979. While there she met and started dating her sweetheart, Bruce Gifford. She attended the University of Utah, and then married Bruce on August 27, 1982, in the Jordan River Temple. They lived in Provo, Utah; Berkeley, California; Woods Cross, Utah; and St. George, Utah before settling in Taylorsville, Utah. They were blessed with two sons, Kendal and Hunter.
Barbara enjoyed crafts and sewing. She did tole painting and quilting, and she made homemade cards for friends and family. She and her two sisters got together most Thursdays for 30 years to craft, share lunch, or just visit.
Barbara loved primary children and music. She often said primary chorister was the best calling in the church, and she served in that role for more than 15 years in various wards. She also enjoyed serving in other callings in the primary and young women organizations.
Barbara was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a blood cancer, in 2014. While the disease left her with less and less energy to do the things she wanted, she was always looking for ways to serve her family and friends with the energy she did have.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Maurine Hansen; and her brother Dennis Hansen. She is survived by her husband, Bruce Gifford; her sons, Kendal Gifford and Hunter Gifford; and her siblings Lois Hansen, Kathy and Clyde Marshall, Richard and Wendi Hansen, David and Connie Hansen, and JoAnn and Kyle Stauffer.
