Ardene Earl Bouck, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, was born April 18, 1932, and returned to her Father in Heaven on her 94th birthday, April 18, 2026. Ardene was born to Lavinia Mann Earl and Claude Earl. She was the youngest of six children: Norma Storm, Marie Johnston, Venna Earl, Darvel Earl, Dennis Earl.
She married the love of her life, Paul R. Bouck, in the Salt Lake Temple on June 1, 1951. Together they built a loving home and raised four children: Christine (Don) Mathison, Cathy (Kelly) Petersen, Jeanne (Raymond) McMichael, and Connie Bouck.
Ardene was the proud grandmother of 18 grandchildren: Jason Mathison, Jared Mathison, Eric Mathison, Jaime Mathison, Carmen Mathison, Matthew Mathison, Ryan Petersen, Matt Petersen, Jake McMichael, Cody McMichael, Benjamin McMichael, Justin McMichael, Derrick McMichael, Jessica Hovey, Andrew Barr, Ann-Mariah Rosenberg, Emily Bengtzen, and Adam Nitzel. She was also blessed with 38 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Ardene and Paul spent their early married years in the Rose Park area of Salt Lake City, where they welcomed their first two daughters, Christine and Cathy. Shortly after Cathy was born, they moved into a new home in Taylorsville, where Jeanne and Connie joined the family. They lived in Taylorsville for 30 years before returning to Rose Park to enjoy their golden years in Paul's childhood home.
As a young woman, Ardene earned a scholarship for training at Hill Field Air Force Base, where she worked as a keypunch operator. Later, she also worked at Kennecott in the same role.
Ardene and her sisters were known for their many talents, which they generously shared with others. Candy making was one of her specialties. She mastered the art of dipping chocolates and happily shared her treats with family and friends. She passed this skill on to her daughters, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren. Ardene and her sisters also provided candymaking demonstrations in schools and churches. They were especially known for the butter mints they made for weddings and special events, along with the delicious caramels she loved to give away.
Ardene and Paul shared a deep love for horses. In their younger years, Paul would often pick her up for dates on horseback. Later, they became involved in the 4-H program, where Paul announced 4-H horse shows and Ardene faithfully assisted him. Ardene learned the art of quilting from her mother and went on to create hundreds of beautiful quilts. Many of her children and grandchildren not only received these treasured quilts but also learned the craft from her so the tradition could continue.
She faithfully served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including Stake Primary President, Stake Librarian, Ward Primary President, Relief Society Presidency Counselor, Primary Secretary, Primary Teacher, and Ward Librarian for 30 years. The family would like to express a special thanks to the hospice workers, especially Lacie and Diana, and all others who provided such loving emotional and physical care to Ardene and her family during this time.
Ardene was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
We know there was a joyful reunion in Heaven when she arrived.
