Anna "Ruth" Edling Luter

Bless Your Heart

12/31/1941-2/17/24

Born December 31, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John Leonard Edling and Bernice Roskelley on the kitchen table. She came into this world on the perfect day because she was the life of the party! She was always up for an adventure too.

One of those adventures took her to California, which was intended to be a visit to see her sister, Helen, and brother-in-law Millen Moffat that adventure turned permanent.

She met her husband, James Gray Luter Jr at the famous Wilshire Ward where he was the greeter and he shook her hand and never let go. They were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple on April 10, 1965. Later they moved to Granada Hills California where they made their home for the next 35+ years and built their family, having a son John Garrett and later adopting a daughter Mary Ellen.

They came to Utah for a family reunion and her cousin told them about a 55+ community being built so they saw the plans and put down a deposit and eight months later they moved to West Jordan, where they attended the Garden Cove ward. She has had multiple callings in the church and served a couple of service missions and worked in the Jordan River Temple alongside her husband.

They moved to Herriman, Utah in 2021 to live with their daughter and son-in-law,and granddaughter Scarlett James. Scarlett was her greatest achievement, miracle, and joy. They are the best of friends.

She is the "Bless Your Heart lady". Whoever she talk to ,which was everyone she blessed their hearts, more than once because she couldn't say goodbye just once and be done. Bless her heart!

She is preceded in death by her sweetheart Dr. James G Luter Jr, her golden child, John G Luter, her parents, John and Bernice Edling; both sisters, Helen and Millen Moffat , Gaylene and Carl Roethel; grand niece and nephews Amy Moffat-Graham (Stephen), Graham and Joel Wilson.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen, son-in-law, Michael Watterson; granddaughter, Scarlett James, daughter-in-law, Keri Luter - Salisbury; her sons, Jacob and Kaden( Kera) Batterman; great grandson CJ Batterman born the day before she passed.
