Alta Mae Jones Clark

Alta Mae Jones Clark, lovingly called Nana, age 90, passed away May 31, 2022, peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.

Alta was born May 19, 1932, the first daughter of Hursel and Marvel Chatwin Jones in Roosevelt, Utah. She grew up in Tabiona, Utah and graduated from Tabiona High. She married William H. Clark on June 4, 1954.

William and Alta relocated from Tabiona to the Salt Lake Valley shortly after they were married and settled in Magna, Utah where they resided for 65 years. Bill (William) and Alta enjoyed many things together such as spending time with family, short trips out to Wendover, Utah and they had a great love for horses and the horse races. Later in life Alta enjoyed traveling with family and watching the Utah Jazz at home. Bill and Alta never had children of their own, but they took great pride in raising Nelda and Glade Sweats children and grandchildren as their own.

Survived by nieces and nephews, Marvel Sainsbury, Karen Johnson (Ted Roberts), Marie (Brent) Horrocks, Jackie (Kelly) Simper, Mike (Geri) Sweat, Ervin (Katrina) Sweat; and many great-nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband William H. Clark; her parents; her sister Nelda Sweat; brother and sisters-in-law; nieces; and a nephew.

Friends may call Sunday, June 5, 2022, 6-8:00 p.m., at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 6, 2022, 12:00 p.m. at the Tabiona Stake Center, 3750 North 37900 West, Tabiona, Utah 84072, where friends may call prior to services from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Interment will follow services at the Tabiona Cemetery. Services under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
