Allen Lavell "Buddy" Larsen

Buddy Larsen, 89, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on January 9, 2022, at home. Buddy passed away holding the hand of his sweetheart of 66 years, Marilyn.

Buddy was born on September 5, 1932 in Cleveland, Utah, to Merrill and Kate Larsen. He was the second of eleven siblings. He and his family grew up in Cleveland, ranching and farming. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as playing sports, hunting and even the work done on the farm. He developed a love of reading and writing. Buddy moved to Salt Lake City in 1955 and married Marilyn Hanes on November 16th, of that year, in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Buddy and Marilyn eventually had 6 children, leading to 27 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren. In addition to their own children, they fostered a Navajo student on the Indian placement program for several years. Buddy was proud of his family and enjoyed giving them handmade wooden toys and trinkets. He enjoyed writing and wrote numerous poems and filled volumes of personal journals throughout his life.

Buddy worked numerous jobs to support his family, including laborer, delivery driver, gas station assistant with the longest being 31 years as a security officer. He believed in hard work, being direct and helping others.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Merrill and Kate Larsen; his siblings, Carolyn, Bert, Rodger, LaRue and Berta; and one great-granddaughter, Mckelle.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; six children, Diane (Mike), Randy (Cammi), Barry (Tamra), Tad (Linda), Brent (Marilyn), Rick (Karen) and Kathy; his siblings, Fay, Carl, Merrilyn, John and Ted; 27 grandchildren; and 55 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 12:00pm (Noon), with viewings available Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 11:00am. Funeral and viewing services will be at McDougal Funeral Home located at 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah, 84123.

Interment will be directly following the funeral service at Taylorsville Cemetery, located at 4575 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah.
