Alexander James (AJ) Gomez of South Salt Lake, Utah, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 20, 2026, at the age of 38.
He was born on April 17, 1988, in West Valley City, Utah, to Amador Gomez and Leisa Carol Gomez.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jesus and Delia Gomez, and Marvin and Marilyn Jacobsen.
Survived by his father Amador Gomez and mother Leisa Gomez, sister Amber Miller (Tony), brother Jason Wolf-Mann (Chace), and sister Janelle Gomez. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces, including great nephews and nieces, and by his beloved cat Anastasia (Stazi).
AJ enjoyed being outdoors, camping, skateboarding, and snowboarding. He had a love for all animals, especially his cats.
He was an avid gamer and had a great community of friends that were dear to his heart. Spending time with family, his cats, or his friends was always a highlight of his life.
AJ was known for his great love for his family, piercing multi-colored eyes, and beautiful dark hair, which he always covered with a hat or a beanie.
Viewing and funeral services will be held at McDougal Funeral Home located at 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah. The public viewings are Friday, June 5, 2026, from 6 to 8 PM and Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 10 to 10:45am. Funeral service will immediately follow the viewing on June 6. All friends and family of AJ are welcome to attend.
A short graveside service will be held at West Jordan City Cemetery located 7925 South and 1300 West, West Jordan, Utah (enter at 7851 S. 1300 W.), immediately following the funeral services. Dedication of the grave will be provided by AJ's uncle, Barry Jacobsen.
Following the graveside service, a luncheon will be provided at River 4th Ward church house located at 1380 West 6785 South, West Jordan, Utah.
AJ will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
