William Nelson Konvicka

October 9, 1924 — July 29, 2017

Our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather,William N. Konvicka was born October 9, 1924 in Fayetteville, New York to William Konvicka, Sr. and Adeline (Osborne) Konvicka. William was the third of seven children. William grew up in the beautiful country land of central New York State. He graduated from Fayetteville High School thereafter joining the United States Navy in June of 1942 where he attended aviation machinist mate school in Jacksonville, Florida. William served 3 years with duty in the South Pacific receiving his honorable discharge in 1945 after receiving a Purple Heart medal of honor. William later attended Brigham Young University and received a Bachelors of Science in Geology. In 1948 he met a sweet Mormon girl in Sun Valley Idaho named Marrial Clark, who he married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together they raised five healthy children. William was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Fritz Konvicka, Charles Konvicka sister Clara Konvicka and son William Christopher. William is survived by his sweetheart of 68 years Marrial; children Tammy Dana, Allison Leo, Roger Konvicka and Tara Downes; grandsons Anthony Downes and Robert Downes; great-granddaughter Kennedy Jameson Downes; sisters Esther Keyes and Ruth Ware. Our dear father was a great example of hard work and determination. He spent memorable times with his family enjoying adventurous outings. He was an extraordinary Fly fisherman, teaching his children to fish and to enjoy God's beautiful creations of rivers, streams and the Rocky Mountain States. He had a passion for prospecting, gold panning and loved the beauty of Utah, Montana and Idaho. Raising five health children and passing on his strong spirit. William spent 16 years working with The Golden Eagles hockey team as a game timer penalty box attendant. William also played and coached hockey, instilling his love for the game of hockey and ice skating in his daughters. William succeeded in living a strong spiritual and memorial life with service in many church callings. William will be greatly missed by his loving children, grandchildren, great-granddaughter and wife. Graveside services will be held Friday, August 11, 2017, 12:00 noon, at Sandy City Cemetery, 9000 South 700 East. A viewing will be held prior to graveside services from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Place of Birth:Syracuse, New YorkPlace of Death:Salt Lake City, Utah
