Vonda O. Erickson Jensen "Together Again"

March 26, 1927 — September 23, 2017

The most loving and caring daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Vonda O. Erickson Jensen, was welcomed into heaven on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017. Vonda was born March 26, 1927, to Eric Joseph and Justine Hedvick Olsen Erickson, on their family farm four miles west of Fayette, Utah. She was a darling little girl with blonde hair and bright blue eyes, who loved growing up on the farm. She was the last living member of the Eric Joseph Erickson family and missed them all dearly, so we know that the reunion in heaven was a great one. Vonda graduated from Gunnison Valley High School and was asked to work for the Teluridge Power Company just in time to help be a part of taking electric service out to their family farm. Vonda was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the East Central States Mission, where she was secretary to the Mission President for most of her service. Her love for the church was second only to the love for her family. Oct. 10, 1952, she married her sweetheart, Donald Christian Jensen, in the Manti LDS Temple, for time and all eternity. In 1956, they moved from Sanpete County to Kearns, Utah, where they both worked and raised their family. Unable to conceive, but wanting to have a family of their own, they decided to adopt. They welcomed Susan Dawn Jensen into their family Jan. 9, 1960, and Layne Eric Jensen July 24, 1964. After having both children sealed to them, life was complete. With Vonda's devotion and faith in the LDS Church she happily accepted the opportunity to serve in many church positions on both ward and stake levels. She was also a member of the Singing Mothers, even though she always said she couldn't sing. She worked many years for The Soil Conservation Service where she made many life-long friends before retiring. She taught her children to work hard and have faith in the church and anything in life is possible. Vonda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Christian; parents; Eric Joseph and Justine Hedvick Olsen Erickson; siblings, Harvey O. Erickson, Utahna O. Erickson, Florine O. Erickson (Owen) Pierce, Delbert O. Erickson, Talmage O. (Kay) Erickson, Betty Lou O. Erickson (Orland) Chidester, and Valdean O. Erickson. She sadly leaves behind her children, Susan Dawn Jensen (David) Delgado, and Layne Eric Jensen; grandchildren, Beni Donald (Mari) Tenifa, Mikaele Layne (Cynthia) Tenifa, Lori Marie Draper, Lacey Lee Draper, Cannon Tyler Jensen, Brooklyn McKenzie Jensen, and Cameron Robert Jensen; great-grandchildren, Marty Mikaele Tenifa, Amelia Stephanie Tenifa, Justine May Tenifa, Tukulolo Blayze Tenifa, Makayla Vonda Tenifa, MaryJane Rose Tenifa, Sia Nicole Tenifa, Dayton Donald Tenifa, and soon to be born, Jaxon Jayden Draper; and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews. A viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road, in Taylorsville. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, at the Kearns East Stake - LDS 4th Ward, 4232 W. 5015 S., in Kearns. A viewing will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Mom, Grandma, and Grandma the Great, you will be dearly missed, but it is comforting to all of us to know that you are with all those that you have been missing for many, many years. We love you.
