Virginia Thomsen Jorgensen

Virginia Thomsen Jorgensen, 78, of Hurricane, Utah, died on November 17, 2017 from a brain aneurysm. Born August 2, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Douglas and Lucille McCleary Thomsen. Jinny (as she was known) attended South High School in Salt Lake and Brigham Young University. She married John Jorgensen on May 8, 1959, in the Salt Lake Temple. She worked as a secretary for the Salt Lake County Clerk's office and for Salt Lake Community College. She and John served two temple missions in Nauvoo Illinois and she was a temple worker in the Jordan River Temple for 12 years. Jinny enjoyed crafting and was always doing handiwork. She was stubborn and determined until the end. She loved puzzles, home design, and Christmas (especially giving presents) but most of all laughing when her grandchildren were funny. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John; and her children Julie Farnsworth, Karl (Sandy) Jorgensen, and Shari (Eric) Nelson. She will also be fondly remembered by her 10 grandchildren and by her brother Richard (Connie)Thomsen. Jinny was predeceased by her parents, Douglas "Pete" Thomsen and Lucille McCleary Thomsen; brother Douglas Thomsen; and her sister Carolyn Kirkham. A Funeral Service in her memory will be held on Tuesday, November 21st, 11:30 at the Hurricane 20th Ward, 452 North 2600 West, Hurricane, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 10:00 to 11:15.A viewing will take place prior to interment at Mc Dougal Funeral Home, 4330 S Redwood Rd, Taylorsville, Utah on Saturday, November 25th from 10:00 to 12:00. Interment will follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 1950 E Dimple Dell Road (10600 S), Sandy, UT.
