Virginia May Reese Ortega

May 14, 1927 — March 27, 2015

Virginia May Ortega, age 87, passed away peacefully March 27, 2015 surrounded by her daughters and grandchildren. Virginia was born May 14, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Marguerite and Raymond Parker. Later she was adopted by Thomas and Sarah Reese on May 31st 1929 in Salt Lake City. She married her sweetheart, Jess on February 28, 1946; he preceded her in death. Virginia worked at the phone company, Albertsons and the ARC with her daughter, Sarah. Mom loved all her animals, from her horse to the many dogs, cats and rabbit. She was an artist who loved doing needlepoint, cooking, baking, decorating her home and garden, and was an avid reader. Mom loved her work for the Catholic Church and Father Merrisman. Virginia is survived by her daughters: Sarah (Mike) Choate, Kathy (Bob) Peck, Barbara Dennis, Debbie (James) Fetzer, Janice (Ken) Nelson; 16 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren. Virginia was also preceded in death by brothers: Linden, Thomas and Ben, Ralph, Ivan Reese and her sister Mary Reid. The family would like to thank all the staff at RM Hunter Hollow/Hospice and a special thanks to Maria, Christy and her daughter for the special love and care they gave to our mom. "We will hold you dear in our heart until we meet again Mom, Grandma and Grandma Great". Friends and family may call Tuesday, March 31, 2015, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 So. Redwood Road, Taylorsville, UT. A Rosary will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2015, 11:30 a.m. and Funeral Mass at 12:00 noon at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 3580 W. 3650 So., West Valley City, UT. Interment, Riverton City Cemetery, 13200 So. 1500 W.
