Susan Lynn Brown

October 8, 1946 — July 25, 2017

Susan Lynn Brown was born in Ventura, California to LaGrand Bennion Brown and Linda Rose Fadenrecht Brown on October 8, 1946. She passed away in the loving care of Hospice and Stonehenge Rehabilitation Hospital in South Jordan, Utah from complications from surgeries and kidney failure on July 25, 2017. Susan loved to cook, do cross-stitch, to sew, play the piano, do puzzles, and collect teddy bears. Susan knew at a young age that she wanted to be a nurse. While in high school, she donated her time as a candy striper. She graduated from Hoover High School in Fresno, California in 1965. Susan completed the 4 year nursing program at California State University Fresno and graduated Cum Laude, June 1969 as a registered nurse. Susan's desire was to be a pediatric nurse and has worked at Children's Hospital in Fresno, a hospital in San Jose, and Fresno Community Hospital. She spent her years as a nurse taking care of critically sick children. She had been chosen to be Nurse of The Year and had a write up in the Fresno Bee Newspaper. She often spoke of what a blessing this was to her. She loved those children as her own. In 1990 Susan retired as a registered nurse. Susan's life was full of health challenges, starting with being born premature, weighing only 4 pounds. She came into the world crying and fighting to survive. She had complications from endometriosis, which brought years of pain. One tragic evening May 7, 1990, Susan was crossing the street to spend the evening with other nurses at Fresno Community Hospital, planning to have dinner and attend a fashion show. She was hit by a car crossing a street, shattering her left shoulder, breaking many bones and causing a brain injury. The rest of her life was a struggle to relearn everything she had once known and had done. Susan is preceded in death by her father and mother; baby sister Sherri Diane Brown. She is survived by a brother Steve Brown; sister-in-law Carol Brown of West Jordan; brother Scott Jay Brown of Terra Bella, California; nieces and nephews; and many people she loved. Susan was a life time member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Along with her mother, they spent many years lovingly doing the laundry in the Fresno California Temple. Susan's life message and legacy to the world has always been endurance to the end. Her message has been that we all need to endure to the end and not disrespect through our words and thoughts, hate to our Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ, for what tragedies may come our way. Private family graveside services will be held in Fresno, California at the Clovis Cemetery.
