Norman Carl Lister

Norman Carl Lister, age 87, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014, surrounded by family at his daughters home in Moccasin, Arizona. Norman was born April 3, 1927 in Mt. Emmons, Duchesne, Utah, to Carl Ray Lister and Irene Cynthia Fullmer. He had 3 brothers and 6 sisters. Norman served in the United States Navy during World War II. He met and married his wife of 53 years, Verla Rae Jones, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were sealed June 7, 1963 and together raised three daughters and one son. Norman worked at the stock yards in Salt Lake City, Utah for 17 years; for Wiscom Company, helping build dams, in The Dalles, Oregon and Swan Valley, Idaho. He had a gift in the art of gardening and worked a second job doing landscaping for many years. He always had the most beautiful yard in the neighborhood. Norman went back to school and began working for Utah Power and Light Company and retired in 1987 after 21 years of service. He always enjoyed fishing, hunting, horses and gardening. Norman was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and especially enjoyed the time he spent working in the Jordan River Temple. After Verla's death in 2003, he sold his home in Salt Lake and moved to Rigby, Idaho. He met and married Emma Louise Warburton in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2005, and they have divided their time between Rigby, Idaho; Moccasin, Arizona and St. George, Utah. Norman was preceded in death by his wife Verla Rae Jones; brothers: Raymond (Virginia) Lister, of Granger, UT; and Richard (Vanita) Lister, of Springville, UT sisters: Maurine (Melvin) Foote, of Ogden, UT; Dorothy (Jesse) Wilson, of Salt Lake City, UT; Carma Ray Lister; and granddaughter Kristina Dee Lister. He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Emma Louise Warburton; children: Renee (Ronald) Johnson, of Moccasin, AZ; Sherma (Tom) Zimmermann, of Taylorsville, UT; Mark Norman (Kim) Lister, of Rigby, ID; and Karen (Mark) Strebel, of Centerville, UT; 16 grandchildren and 32 great grand-children. Also surviving are his siblings Jimmy (Fran) Lister, of Manila, UT; Ann (Andy) Bennett, of Hayden, CO; Iva Dell (Gene) Vernon, of Salt Lake City, UT; Della (Wallace) Harvey, of Salt Lake City, UT, and sisters-in-law, Vanita (Richard) Lister, of Springville, UT; Judy (Glenn) Jones, of Levan, UT and LaRue (Lee) Fullmer, of Salt Lake City, UT.
