Monty Ray Stevens

October 25, 1930 — July 22, 2016

West Jordan, Utah-Monty Ray Stevens, 85 passed away on July 22, 2016 in his home. Monty was born to Ray Levoy Stevens and Grace Inez Callister on October 25, 1930. He was raised in Tooele, Utah where he met his eternal sweetheart and companion of 61 years Jeri Orme. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Monty served in the military during the Korean War and retired from Kennecott. Monty was an avid gardener and his green thumb made everything he nurtured to flourish. "It was said that a weed wouldn't dare grow in his yard". When he was younger he raced bikes and continued with his love for bike riding all his life. His children and grandchildren loved his ability to make everything they did as a family fun and memorable. Family was the joy of his life. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a ward and stake clerk at many different times and in two different Bishoprics. His testimony of the gospel was something he willingly shared with others. He became a member of the church in his early twenties and there was no turning back once he was converted to the truthfulness of the gospel. Blessings received by children and grandchildren by him are cherished.
