Marilyn Jeanne Goettert

December 3, 1924 — August 16, 2017

Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend returned peacefully home to her Heavenly Father on August 16, 2017 after a long-awaited reconciliation with her sweet husband, "Mike" who preceded her in death in 1996. Marilyn was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on December 3, 1924 to George Lewis Webb and Carrie Geneva Strong. She was one of 6 children. She married Karl Fredrick Wilhelm Goettert on November 14, 1943 in Santa Monica, California. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1966 and was a beacon of solidarity for the whole family. They had three children. She worked as an Operator for the General Telephone Company in Southern California for 17 years after which she retired. That the world was a better place while Marilyn was in it was attested to by all who knew her. Her loving, generous spirit was a blessing to anyone who came in contact with her. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life, she loved all of her callings but especially those working with the children. She also served as a Girl Scout leader to both of her daughters. She loved animals, gardening, needlework, family history, and dancing but most of all spending time with her family. She served a mission at the SLC Family History Library as well as an ordinance worker at the Los Angeles, Dallas and Jordan River Temples. She is preceded in death by her husband Karl; and their son, Keith Alan Goettert. She is survived by her two daughters, Janet Lynne Blackmer and Judith Anne Sullivan; four grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren; as well as her numerous extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at Copper Hills 2nd Ward, 5176 Parr Drive. Viewings will be held Friday, August 25th, 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, and Saturday morning at the church from 9:30-10:45 prior to services.
