Marci was born on April 20, 1951 in Portsmouth, Virginia to Lowell Robert and Vera Marin Simmons. She grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. Marci graduated from beauty school when she was only 16-years-old and always loved doing hair. She maintained her cosmetology license until she was physically unable to continue working. Marci and Wanda enjoyed working together so much that they extended their missions several times, serving until 2012. Marci also enjoyed time spent volunteering for LDS Family Services in Sandy, UT. Marci married the love of her life and eternal sweetheart, John K. Sawyer, on June 6, 1992, in Redding, California. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
