Marc Phillip Simmons

December 11, 1979 — May 5, 2018

Our handsome, incredibly witty, intelligent and charming Son, Father, Brother and Uncle, Marc Phillip Simmons, passed away Saturday morning May 5, 2018 at home. Marc was born on December 11, 1979, in Bountiful, Utah. He was the middle child with two sisters. From the moment he could laugh, he had the deepest most contagious laugh. He had a deep voice even as a toddler. And he was always funny and eager to talk to everyone. Shy is not a word that was associated with Marc. Whoever met him, usually loved him. He attended West Jordan Elementary, West Jordan Middle. While he was there, he was nominated by his science teacher to go to Australia as an ambassador of the people to people' program. They were able to stay for three weeks and they visited the Great Barrier Reef, Sydney, Kangaroo Island, and slept in the Aquarium in Sydney. He attended West Jordan High, where he met his wife Lillian Reyes. They were married April 3, 1998 and had two beautiful daughters, Abby Suseth and Caitlin Marie. They divorced Oct 21, 2001. Marc has worked for the State of Utah at the Department of Transportation for 20 years. Working first in Maintenance and then getting a permanent position in Construction. He enjoyed the people he worked with. He made a lot of life time friends who he would consider brothers and sisters to him. He had made amazing memories at work with his friends/family that love him tremendously. If you wanted his attention, you didn't say "squirrel"..you said "guns" or "motorcycle". Marc loves his motorcycle and guns. He loved taking everyone and anyone camping, fishing, hunting, target practicing and riding. He loved bowling and his Xbox. He was pretty much a kid at heart. Loved starting water balloon fights with the kids at parties, or just going straight for the hose. He was great in the pool to throw the kids around. They all had to have a turn.which ultimately ruined his shoulder, but it was worth it because he had fun. If only we knew how little time we had with him, we would have said yes more times when he'd ask us. He loved his Harley. Marc and his best friend Wesley Garner would take off and go riding, just because. If you saw him getting off his Harley he looked very intimidating with his bandana, motorcycle vest, gloves and his size. However, once he opened his mouth, he invoked no fear because he was probably saying something sarcastically funny. He loved his daughters more than anything. They held his heart in their hands. He was the best Father he could be and will continue watching over his babies.always. Of course his personality was always to teach his kids and others to be loving and kind to anyone they encountered because that was the person he was. He is survived by his daughters Abby Suseth and Caitlin Marie, his mother and family who love him with all their heart, Becki Simmons (Joey), sister Nicole Grill (David), sister Natalie Pettersson (Phil), half sister Jessica Simmons, half sister Alexis Simmons and nieces and nephews he loved: Collin, Treasure, Celeste, Hope, Skylar, Aspen, Dominic. There are so many others that he pretty much adopted that I don't have room to list. Always remember, you never know how much time you have with those you love, so take every opportunity to be with them, enjoy them and love them and spend time with them. A viewing will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018, from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville Utah 84123. All are welcomed to say their goodbyes. There will be a celebration of Marc's life immediately after the viewing at the LDS Church, 6695 South 2200 West, West Jordan, Utah 84084. Refreshments will be served. Please come and share your loving memories about Marc with everyone and the wonderful impact he made in our lives, as we will be recording the event to give to his beautiful family. He made a huge impact on our family and many others and it would be amazing to see what he did in the lives of others. Place of Birth:Bountiful, UtahPlace of Death:West Jordan, Utah
