Lynda Kaye Webb Steele

August 13, 1942 — December 2, 2017

Lynda Kaye Webb was born on August 13, 1942 in Lehi Hospital without a doctor. She was the only daughter born to Lynn Robert Webb and Norma Cranney. Her five brothers include Robert, Van, Randy, David, and Brent. She attended elementary school and junior high in Lehi. The family moved to Draper and she attended Jordan High School. She attended Utah State University on a Girls State scholarship and then later transferred to Brigham Young University. It was there that she met and fell in love with her sweetheart, Darryl Steele. She and a girlfriend frequented the ice cream shop where Darryl worked and soon, a sweet relationship ensued. They became engaged on Christmas Eve and were married June 5, 1964.They had five children, Steffanie, John, Brad, Jeff, and Daniel. Nothing was more important to mom than family. She took great joy in her children and 19 grandchildren. Mom knew how to make each one feel special. She continued to do this right up until her passing. Mom had the unique ability, early on, to recognize the special gifts of each child and nourish them. She would support them in sporting events, school work and extracurricular activities. From the time they were young, she nurtured them in the gospel and helped their testimonies to develop and grow. The children all knew that she loved them unconditionally, and continued to support and love them through all their triumphs and failures. When faced with an important decision, Mom always asked if we had prayed about it first. Mom entered the workforce to pay for her children's missions and was steadily employed for most of her married life. Mother was an extremely attentive grandmother. She loved to hold her grandbabies, gazing into each of their eyes, smelling their heads and feeling their sweet spirits. She loved them at every age and made it a point to be a part of their lives. She joyfully attended their concerts, recitals, sporting events, school events and parties. Mom loved nature. Nothing made her happier than a drive in the mountains looking at the wildflowers, or sitting in the sand at the beach, listening to the sound of the waves. She always made the most of every experience, finding joy in every moment. Mom made friends wherever she went. People were naturally drawn to her kind and gentle spirit. She shunned the limelight and cared more about celebrating the successes of others. Mom knew how to be a true friend, and those friendships, like her family, are forever. Cooking great food was one way mom showed her love for us. Mom taught herself how to cook and became quite accomplished. She loved to find and share new recipes with her family and friends. And we loved to be her guinea pigs! She enjoyed being able to make a special meal for all of our birthdays, especially dessert. In addition to her amazing cooking she would create a warm and loving atmosphere with beautiful table settings and decorations. She collected dishes for all holidays and seasons. Mom had fun playing games with her family. She especially had a love of words and usually won every game of scrabble. She also loved to collect shoes. She believed every girl should have a pair of red shoes, and shared that gift with her granddaughters. Mom loved serving in the church. She served in a Stake Relief Society presidency, Ward Relief Society Presidency, as a teacher in Relief Society, as well as the Primary and Young Women's organizations. But her greatest love was to minister to the one by seeking to meet individual and family needs. By her example, mom taught her children how to serve and love others. Her selfless sacrifices became a hallmark character trait. Attending the temple was very important to her, as she loved to be in the House of God. She lived her testimony in all that she did. She had the great capacity to forgive others, and did so freely. Mom had a strong testimony of her Savior and of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Mother we know that family will continue to be your focus, even if from the other side of the veil. You were our secretary, our project manager, our chauffer, our cook, our nurse, our cheerleader, our counselor and our friend. But above all, you are and always will be our Mom. Mother we love you with all of our hearts and will miss you every single day. Place of Birth:Lehi, UtahPlace of Death:Cottonwood Heights, Utah
