Lorraine Susan Kruger Hollingsworth

April 4, 1962 — August 23, 2016

On Tuesday August 23, 2016, Lorraine Susan Kruger Hollingsworth passed away unexpectedly in Salt Lake City. Lorraine, the daughter of the late Alma and Hilda Kruger, was born on April 4, 1962 in Salt Lake City, UT. She married the late Eugene (Gene) Hollingsworth on December 17, 1993 and later was sealed in the Jordan River Temple. They met and got to know each other shortly after he moved to Salt Lake City in 1993. Love was "in the air". They made each other laugh and they were the best of friends. They were blessed with six children who relied upon their mother and looked to her for guidance and love. They are Jacque Stone (Scott), Daniel (Heather), Jacob (Katie), and Stephanie Kelly (Tracy) and the twins Sharee and Jennifer. Lorraine had a heart of gold and was one who could make people laugh. Of her many talents the one most remembered is her love of children. She would give all she had to ensure children had a happy and safe home. If a baby was crying in church she would reach out to help the mother and comfort the baby until it stopped crying. Lorraine loved the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a testimony that was strong and relied upon the Lord, especially when times were tough. She knew that if she did the right things in the eye of the Lord then things would work out. She enjoyed working in the church office tower and cleaning for the General Authorities. She also worked for a number of years as a labor and delivery scrub tech and CNA at LDS Hospital. She looked forward to working with the babies and helping the mothers. One to play pranks, she would take her older children and "TP" a favorite aunt's home and say "we don't have enough toilet paper". Some of the favorite activities for the family was when Lorraine and Gene would take the kids and grandkids to This Is The Place and Taylorsville Days. She loved to watch fireworks and parades with Gene and the family. She was always full of energy and would excitedly drag tired kids from attraction to attraction. With a love of dance, she took dance lessons for a number of years and loved to use her toe shoes. In addition to her children, she is survived by brothers, Larry, Randy, Rulon, Russell, Lloyd; and sisters Marlene, Evelyn, Inez, Lina, Carrie; and by 11 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 29, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at Bennion 2nd Ward, 6100 Kamas Drive (2480 W), Taylorsville, where a viewing will be held prior to services from 9:30-10:45 am.
