Leila Morrill Houtz

November 15, 1928 — May 18, 2017

Leila Morrill Houtz, age 88, passed peacefully from this life on May 18, 2017. She was born on November 15, 1928 to Ivan and Wanda Lamoreaux Morrill. She grew up in Tridell, Utah and after graduating from Alterra High School, she served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Canada. She married Kleber Duayne Houtz for time and all eternity on November 19, 1954 in the Salt Lake City Temple. As an active member of the LDS Church, Leila served everyone she knew. In her later years, she served faithfully as a Temple Worker in the Jordan River Temple. Leila had a deep love for the Gospel and for her Savior Jesus Christ. Her greatest spiritual gifts were as a wife and mother and her children are forever grateful for the love she showed them every day of their lives. Her children Ivan (Pat) Houtz, Lucinda (Shayne) Ashton, Max (Kim) Houtz, and David (Lisa) Houtz survive her. Her sisters Lela Hooper and Ann Maguire survive her and deserve a special thank you for the great care they always showed her, especially in the years since Duayne passed away. She is preceded in death by her husband, Duayne Houtz; her parents Ivan and Wanda; and her brothers Dellis, Deloy, and Elvin Morrill. Friends and family may pay their respects on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 10:00-11:45 am with funeral services to follow at 12:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel located at 6770 South 500 East Midvale, Utah 84047.
