Joyce Lillian Ferre West

Our strong, feisty mom passed peacefully early Sunday morning, May 22, 2016, surrounded by her three daughters. She was able to say goodbye her children, grandchildren and friends before she passed. Born March 26, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Fred George Ferre and Pearl Elizabeth Cole Ferre. Mom attended Granite High School. Married C. Kent West August 15, 1947 in Salt Lake City; later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. Mom and Dad built their first home from a garage they moved to the property behind her parents' home in So. Salt Lake. They then purchased the family home in Hunter where they raised their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom started as a lunch lady with Granite School District in Aug. 1972 and retired in Dec. 1999 as coordinator over all the elementary schools within the district where she met and enjoyed numerous friends. Mom loved her garden of flowers. Many neighbors and friends enjoyed the beautiful roses she grew in her yard. Preceded in death by her sweetheart husband Kent; parents; siblings: Hazel, Fred, Vicky,Ted; and grandson Cody Joe Rydalch. Survived by children: Pam Pendleton, Dan (Sharon) West, Sandy (Bob) Hartman and Becky (Ron) Workman; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren, and 2 more expected this fall. Graveside services will be held, Thursday, May 26, 2016, 12:00 noon, at Valley View Memorial Park, 4100 South 4400 West.
