Janice Linford

December 15, 1938 — February 3, 2016

Janice Linford, beloved sister, aunt, and friend, returned to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, in Taylorsville, Utah. She was born December 15, 1938, in Afton, Wyoming, to LaRue Hodges and Dott Fullmer Linford. Janice loved the Lord and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in various callings, including Relief Society, gospel doctrine teacher, ward newsletter editor, and visiting teacher. Active for many years with single adult organizations consisting of LDS members, she especially enjoyed performing with the International Folkloric dance group, singing with the Sacra Dulce Choir, and serving on the committee for the Thursday night dances at the Terrace Ballroom. Women from these groups became her lifelong friends, and they continued to get together for a steak fry on birthdays and other special occasions. She loved going to musicals and plays and had season tickets for years. She was also in a golf league. Janice retired from L-3 Communications on August 1, 2004, where she worked for 46 years, first as a secretary, and then specializing in computer graphics. She enjoyed giving service and volunteered at LDS Hospital following her retirement. Janice was an angel, a valiant and courageous example of faith, kindness and service, always giving of herself to all who were blessed to know her. Janice never married. Following the death of her father, she continued to live with and serve as a companion to her mother and helped with her needs for more than fifteen years until her mother's death. Janice was generous with her means, giving freely to her sister, brothers, and her many nieces and nephews, whom she adored and who loved their Aunt Jan. Janice is survived by her sister, Donna L. Putnam; brothers, Frank F. Linford, David F. Linford (Marilyn), James F. Linford (Cheryl), Richard F. Linford; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; a niece; and two nephews. The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at Legacy Village Memory Care for their compassionate and loving care of Janice and Brighton Home Health & Hospice. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 6, 2016, 1:00 p.m., at the Bernina Ward Building on 3045 W. Bernina Drive (5855 S.), Taylorsville. Viewings will be held Friday, February 5th, 6-8:00 p.m., at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and at the church prior to services, 11:30-12:45 p.m. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
