James Edward Duncan

James Edward Duncan was born November 10, 1929, in Durham, NC and died January 13, 2018, in South Jordan, UT. He married Juanita Wintermeyer on October 14, 1950, in Norfolk, VA. The marriage was later solemnized in 1956 in Salt Lake Temple. She preceded him in death. Jim served in the Army as a communication specialist and retired after 23 years of service. He served in many states as well as Korea, Ethiopia, Turkey and Viet Nam. He continued his career in hospital administration at UC Davis Medical Center for the next 18 years. He served an LDS mission with his wife to London, England. As an eagle scout he was active in scouting for over 60 years, earning many awards including Silver Beaver and Wood Badge. He was a friendly, kind-hearted man, and always had funny stories to tell which kept his family members laughing. He made friends everywhere he went, to banks, stores, restaurants and the neighborhood. He had fondness for Westerns, good food and chocolate. He enjoyed singing and whistled a tune like a pro. Always a hard and reliable worker, he taught himself to be handy with cars and electrical gadgets. He will be missed by many. He is survived by his sister, Janice (Exum) Jones - Smithfield, NC; four sons: James (Joanne) - South Jordan, UT, Michael (Natalie) - Covington, WA, Robert (Linda) - Granite Bay, CA and Paul (Tracey) - Sacramento, CA; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Saturday, January 20, 2018, 12:00 noon, at the Rushton View 3rd Ward Chapel, located at 4021 W. Shinnerock Dr (approx. 11225 South), South Jordan, UT 84009, where a viewing will held preceding the services from 10:00-11:45 am.
