Henry Montoya

October 10, 1926 — February 23, 2018

With no regrets after a long, happy life well lived, our father and grandfather has laid the worries of the world away. Re-joined with his only love, Colleen, he has donned his best suit and shoes to dance "The Tennessee Waltz" through the rest of eternity. Henry Montoya was born October 10,1926 and was called by the Lord to graduate into the Great Beyond on Friday, February 23, 2018. Born in Boston Conn, Bingham Canyon, UT and lived many years in Dinkyville and Kearns, UT. At the age of 17, he began a career at Kennecott Copper Mine. During WWII, he served in the Navy aboard the USS McKinley as part of "The Greatest Generation." He returned to Kennecott from which he retired in 1988. He was also indentured into the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in 1949 and served for 68 years. Tragedy struck him early in life when he lost Colleen to cancer in 1958. He then proceeded to raise four daughters by himself for another seven years before he remarried. He did such an outstanding job with the daughters that he was named Father of the Year by the Methodist Church. Always friendly and outgoing, he would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it. He was an avid fisherman all his life as well as a lover of woodworking. and that's even when he was partially blind. He didn't have to see to make things. He is survived by his four daughters, Donna (Tom) Davidson, Becky Rhodes, Janet (Lou) Banks, Joyce (Elden) Blackburn; son Joseph (Cindie) Montoya; sister Rose Romero; brother Phillip Montoya; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
