Gordon Knight Burrell

Gordon Knight Burrell was born on May 3, 1931, in Ogden, Utah. Her served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. He served in the New England States LDS Mission from 1956-1958, and with his wife, Carolyn, from 2001-2002, in Kirtland, Ohio. Gordon married the love of his life, Carolyn Player, August 18, 1971, in the Salt Lake Temple. Gordon is survived by four sons, Brian David Burrell, Shawn Gordon (Kathy) Burrell, Bret John (Christie) Burrell, and Kevin James Burrell. Gordon has seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was a school teacher for 21 years in Granite School District; he loved teaching. Gordon also owned and operated Burrell Tax and Financial Services for 40 years. He was very proud of his company and the long-lasting friendships that he made with his clients. Gordon held several positions in the LDS Church including High Priest, High Councilman, counselor in the Bishopric, and ward financial clerk. Gordon was a very kind, loving, and patient man who was respected and well-liked by all who knew him. Gordon was preceded by the passing of his parents, Bertha Knight and Herbert Burrell of England; and sister, Mary Joyce Burrell Burnham of Roy, Utah. His surviving sister is Bretta Burrell Geiger of Boise, Idaho. Gordon was responsible for organizing the Burrell reunions for several years in the Salt Lake City area. He is remembered for his desire to keep the family together by being very caring, and offering much service to the descendants of Emma Louisa and Jessie Burrell. Gordon made many friends from California where his parents relocated in their advanced years. He was treasured uncle to his family both in Utah and California. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014, at the Taylorsville 12th Ward, 4505 South Brians Way (3425 West). Viewing will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road in Taylorsville, and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment - Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Condolences may be left at mcdougalfuneralhomes.com.
